Wife's caste after marriage.

(Querist) 25 March 2018 This query is : Resolved
Hello sir,
I want to know information regarding the change in caste of a female after marriage. I have done inter-caste marriage(nikah) in March 2017 with my girlfriend.
I am a general category Muslim boy and she is OBC Muslim girl. She wants to retain his OBC caste to get benefit in the govt job entrance exam. She don't have voter id before marriege.
But my applied for her voter id through aanganwadi with my surname. Now her surname is changed in voter id. Other id's are as it is.
Q1) Does this change in voter id surname affect her caste?
Q2)If Yes then what we can do to get her caste back to OBC.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Caste of a person is by birth and remains the same even after marriage. Your wife's caste shall be same which she had before marriage because of her birth in the family. No change of caste after marriage, nor caste of husband taken by wife after marriage.

cast status never changes by marriage.

In a case The Bombay Highcourt ruled caste never changes after marriage,
It said: When a woman born in a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe (SC/ST) marries a person belonging to a forward caste, her caste does not change.

An SC/ST person suffers from disadvantages and indignities just because he or she is born into a particular caste, which he or she acquires involuntarily on birth.

The suffering of such a person is not wiped out by marriage to a person born in a forward caste. The SC/ST label continues notwithstanding marriage.

But what about his changed surname in voter id card. Does it effect anything or i should change the name again as before marriage.

Change of name or surname doesn't change caste of any person. Caste is not associated with name/surname.

Does she have her caste certificate…?
Voter ID card is not caste certificate..
Her cast remains same after marriage.

Marriage or change in surname cannot change your wife's caste status from obc to general category.

Yes she has caste certificate. But surname in caste certificate is different. (bcoz we have change surname in voter id)
Q1) Shoud we keep same surname as mention in caste certificate? By changing name in voter id
Q2) She got her caste certificate from his hometown. Do we need to update certificate.
Q3)Who will issue caste certificate now- tehsil in her hometown or in present location(sasural)
