S311 of CrPC - Is it on Oath and can the judge record in writing the statement of witnesses.
Section 311 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) deals with the examination of witnesses. It clarifies that any evidence given by a witness in the witness box must be sworn before the judge. The judge then records this deposition as evidence. This process ensures the veracity of witness statements within court proceedings.

Any evidence deposed by witness inside the witness box has to be sworn before the judge and the said deposition would be recorded by court as evidence by the witness.
