Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 11 March 2019 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,

I would like to know if there is any agreement to safeguard my and my parent's property after my marriage from my future husband.

Incomplete and vague facts can not lead to form an opinion and oblige.
What are the properties which require protection from "would-be" husband or in-laws ?
Vijay Raj Mahajan (Expert) 12 March 2019
In India there in no such thing as prenaptual agreement which is in practice in most advance countries of the world.
The prenaptual agreement is an instrument to protect one's property that will be included in the distribution of the property between the parties in marriage at the time of divorce proceedings.
In India the agreement or list for the istridhan and other articles given or exchanged at the time of marriage is made that is exchanged by both sides.
You can always enter in an formal agreement about the property of both sides and safeguard it's ownership, there is no bar in entering the agreement and following it later on.

Even if you make any such agreement it would be invalid and of no use.

That.s why it is said " Marriages are made in heaven " deciding your fate.

There cannot be such agreement however you have every right to take care of your parent's property.

The query lacks clarity. A husband or wife has no vested rights in the in-laws' property.

Yes. It is vague query. Your would be husband is not a legal heir to your father. In future we cannot imagine. Then why unnecessary worry. think positively. all the best .
