Court power for recording witness statements

Dear Experts,
I want to know that while recording the statements of the witnesses in a criminal case at the stage of evidence, can't a judge make it recorded in his/her (judge's) words, to help the witnesses specially the victim for the purpose of corroboration of the facts or otherwise ?

I'm asking this with special reference to the FTCs established for crime against women in many states after 16th Dec 12 incident.

In my view it may and sometimes may not be a right thing for the ends of justice. But what the laws and procedures say about such authority of any of the courts ? Whether it is a good judicial practice or not ? What are the powers and liabilities of the trial courts regarding this?
