what is the usual approach followed by a court for the husband and his family members if they are charged on 498a in context of their bail.

Depends on which state you are.

In Delhi no arrest for any other family member except husband. Husband usually gets AB

In Punjab and Haryana apart from husband all get AB.

In Uttranchal and UP, no one can get AB.

So which state, feel free to contact your local SIFF chapter or contact the undersigned for any clarification.

The courts have largely understood the growing misuse of this Act.
However severity of this Act differes from state to state.
In West the Calcutta High Court quite liberally considers the anticipatory bail.
