Death Certificate

(Querist) 23 April 2010 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

My father died last month in Delhi in my home. We did his last rites (funeral)in my home town in Mathura.

We applied for his death certificate in Mathura, where Nagarpalika has objected on issuing death certifiacate citing reasons that since death has taken place in Delhi hence death certificate will be issued from Delhi only.

Can anyone guide me as from where I would get death certificate & what is the process in such suitations.

Thank you in advance.

regards,
Gaurav

You Can get death certificte by applying both Municipalty or Nagarpalika. you have to submit receipt of funeral given by authority of samsanghat/the place where funeral rites has been taken place..if it not available then an affidavit has to be submitted with the application mentioning that event for issuance of certificate

To apply for a Death Certificate, you must first register the death. The death has to be registered with the concerned local authorities within 21 days of its occurrence, by filling up the form prescribed by the Registrar. Death Certificate is then issued after proper verification.

If a death is not registered within 21 days of its occurrence, permission from the Registrar/Area Magistrate, along with the fee prescribed in case of late registration, is required.

A death can be reported and registered by the head of the family, in case it occurs in a house; by the medical in-charge if it occurs in a hospital; by the jail in-charge if it occurs in a jail; and by the headman of the village or the in-charge of the local police station in case the body is found deserted in that area.

Dear Akhilesh,

We have already submitted recipt of funeral in the application submitted in Muncipalty for issuing the Death Certificate. But Nagarpalika has submitted the report saying that since the death has taken place in Delhi hence certificate will be issued from Delhi itself.

Since funeral has taken place in Mathura (hometown)hence we applied there although my father died in Delhi.

Now my question is:

Firstly, can Nagarpalika refuse in such suitation or they are right?

Secondly, what does the law say in such cases?

Regards,
gaurav

Dear Sachin,

Death was very much reported in time i.e. within a day's time in my home town Nagarpalika.

But still Nagarpalika has submitted the objection saying that certificate will be issued from Delhi.

Please help me.

Regards,
gaurav
