Income tax 142 (1)

I have received an IT Notice dated 30.07.2013 Under Section 142(1) of the Income Tax Act 1961 for the assessment year 2011-12.

Is the IT Notice valid ? Please advise what steps I can take ?

First and foremost please indicate as to why do you feel that the notice may be invalid? Only after knowing your reason for your doubt, one can examine the issue with reference to your doubt and provide you with an answer.

Dear Mr. Garg,

Your question has no relevance on the following grounds:

1) Want of background/information about your IT rturn: Without your giving any background for which you have received notice, how anyone can guess whether the notice is valid or invalid?

2) if you have not submitted the return and the period has already expired, only you or your CA can tell.

3) As per your profile, you seem to be a director of some company, so you must be having services of CAs and financial advosor in your company, who can guide you well whether and why you are not required to submit the requisite information before assessment.
