Police harassment calls

(Querist) 09 July 2013 This query is : Resolved
Hello,

Local police call me over the phone saying that there is complaint on me. They don't register any complaints. It is to harass me(because of my opponent in another civil case). each time with a different complaint. What is legal expectations? should someone visit when police call? Do I have the right to tell them to register complaint before calling?what are the legal options?
Thanks

The Police has power to call the accused person in connection with investigation of a complaint.
However you can refuse to visit the Police and run the risk of getting arrested if a FIR is registered.
Mere visiting the Police is not harmful unless the Police causes unnecessary harassment.
You can equally harass your opponent by lodging similar complaints.

Ans : Yes you have such right to invite hostility of police.. when you have in animosity with someone who is fond of giving complaints in that case if you make such request then police will be forced to register case and if the allegations are non-bailable then spend a few days in Jail and goal of your adversary is achieved.

Police has the powers to call a person for investigation.
You may ask police to register the complaint. It is better they are not registering the complaints, once it is registered, accused may be arrested and will have to face trial 3-4 years minimum. Bail after arrest may take 2-3 days and one will have to rest in J Custody till then or otherwise.
As a counter, one may also give complaints against his opponent, but avoid and never give false complaint.
