Share in father s property for daughters

In father s self property legally whether the daughters have equal share like son when the property is sold? Also for the rest of the unsold properties and assets whether the daughters have equal right? Please clarify

Yes, a daughter has equal rights along with the son, but not during the lifetime of the father. The right accrues only on his death. During the lifetime the father can dispose of his self acquired property in the way he likes.

Even the sons have no interest in the self acquired property of the father, the heirs acquire interest in such property only on the death of the father by succession and not before that,yet if the property in the hands of the father is ancestral, both- the daughter and son will have birth interest in the property even during the life time of the father, Thanks
