Regarding meternity leave

i was joined as junior lecturer recently i am pregnent now.i kow tht meternthity leave is for 180days.when can i apply for it. is it start from the date of delivery or can i have it before my delivery date

you can have for some days before your delivery date and continue post delivery

The term "joined recently" in your query does not indicate what would be the period of your work with the organisation till the the expected date of your delivery. You can claim maternity benefit only if you are likely to work for a period of not less than eighty days in the twelve months immediately preceding the date of your expected delivery.

You should have at least clarified whether it is Govt body or not. Maternity rules differ. So I am unable to agree or disagree with any of the above opinion.

I do come to your query only and my reply is that you can avail these leave as per your convenience but not for more than the prescribed time limits as per service conditions applicable in your case.
