Is interviewing parent for admission of their child in school legal

Dear Experts

My friend is admitting his son aged 3.5yrs in a private school and I believe you all aware of today's admission procedures. Whether interviewing parent for admitting their child in the school by school management is legal or illegal. I saw somewhere it is illegal but i am not sure where.

If its illegal, under what law it becomes an offence? and what is the punishment for the same.

Kindly throw some light, I would appreciate it.

In my opinion interviewing parents for the admission of the child to the school is rubbish. Now it has become a fashion in private school. It is show off by the private school to grab the more money from the parents.

Procedure can not be illegal till so declared by law / court.

Delhi, Gujrat and Kerala high courts have passed orders against interviewing parents for admission of children. Pl check or consult an advocate

A specific guideline has been issued by the Government to restrict the school authorities. In case of such violation, apply to the education ministry to take action.
