About background verification of co.

(Querist) 11 October 2014 This query is : Resolved
I am working in a Co. for past 7 yrs now. All of a sudden my Co is asking to submit documents, proofs for Background Verification reg. Education & Employment. I have submitted all the details reg. the same.
Unfortunately Co. got closed for which I submitted Docs for previous employment & my current Co. thinks I could have faked.
My Ques. here is
1) Can a Co. ask me Docs for Background verification despite my 7 yr service in the Co.
2) How can I give some unexpected Docs for eg: Bank statement some 8-10 yrs back to justify my employment in previous Co.
3) Current Co. has already done BGC during my joining of the Co. Now they wanted to do 2nd time after 7 yrs.
4) I personally don't feel justified by Co. explanation saying Co. has the right to do so.

Kindly advise me on the above, Can any legal action can be taken.

Every company as its own policy for recruitment method you will have to show documents they ask for weather you like it or not the other option is giving them Affidavit if they accept the same

Whether the Company is Public Limited or Private Limited or Government undertaking? All of the sudden it is asking this information means there must be some back ground. Look into that aspect first. Since you are in service with the company for the last 7 years, provide them whatever they require if you have. If you do not have give proper explanation as to why you could not produce those documents. If everything is fine, they may accept your explanation. If something fishy, come out with full facts. As regards taking legal action against the company, what wrong it committed to take legal action? Every employer has got a right to ask for the documents relating to his/her employee at any stage. Nothing wrong in it. Do not entertain unnecessary defence and make the things worse.

1. Why not?
2. If you have provide, inform otherwise.
3. What is BGC. Advise full form.
4. Company has asked, if you are not satisfied without proper reason, may change the company.

There is nothing wrong in the company's action until and otherwise its intention is to harm you you personally based in some biased decisions/information. Cooperate with the company and find out out their real intention behind such belated action.
