Procedure for registration of rent agreement

I would like to know the procedure for registration of Rent Agreement in Mumbai.

Also,can it be done online?

no it cannot be done online . both the parties have to remain physically present along with original agreement for registration purposes

Agreed with the expert, registration can not be done online, both the parties have to be present at the registrar office.

Both parties shall have to obtain the services of a lawyer and then shall have to communicate him agreed terms and conditions and thereafter he shall draft the Rent Deed which shall then be got registered in the presence of both the parties to the deed with their witnesses.
