SIR,
One orphan child aged about six months was found on the road .People gathered there and local people suggested to one adopt this child. one person adopted the son with the witness of local people and take signature of local people. local police was also informed but no one claim regarding the child. Under what provision and procedure legal adoption can be made ?

Make application in the court if District Judge. It would validate the adoption.

Police has no power to give that child to any one for adoption. Child Welfare department is the competent authority working in almost all Districts has first to take that child in its care and has then to decide the application of the interested persons desiring to take such child on adoption and the old applications are given priority in such matters.
