Disconnection of electricity supply

Dear Sir,

I am a consumer of Maharashtra state elct. dist. co. ltd. I want to know what the electricity act say about disconnection of supply due to non payment of bill.
On 23.06.2012 my connection was disconnected when we were not in town, due date was 20.06.2012. I am a residential user. No disconnection notice was served to me. Please guide me and action I can take against the MSEDCL.

Generally bill itself is disconnection notice and the electricity deptt/company is not bound to keep waiting for the licensee to come to town and then disconnect. Generally now meters are outside the premises.
