To remove Wife's name from the Passport

Dear members of the Forum
our client wants to remove name of his wife from the Passport. Please give suggestion.
The fact of the matter is that my client is living separately from his wife since more then 3 yrs. No suits or petitions or applications filed (or pending) by the both against each other. In these circumstances he does not want his wife’s name in the passport. What should V should advise him please inform.

Dear Rekha
As per your query, it seems there is no divorce on part of both your client and his wife. It is not possible under the passport act, since the only criteria mentioned is upon divorce. In these circumstances it is better your client attends the passport adalat held ever week at the regional passport office by the PRO and seek his advise and guidance in the matter.

The Pass Port record shows names of Your family members and name of your wife . To delet wife name there must be a record - divorce Decree !

Dear Rekha,
For removing the wife's name from the passport, your client should require the following documents for submitting before the competent authorities :
(i) Divorce deed duly authenticated by Court and
(ii) Deed Poll or Sworn Affidavit as per specimen in Annexure –D given in the Passport Information booklet attached to the application.
