Power of attorney

(Querist) 14 September 2016 This query is : Resolved
Query by Anonymous:
While authenticating a power of attorney, if there are any corrections and interlineations in the document, is it the duty of the authenticating notary to counter sign those corrections and interlineations and also to make a mention of the number of such corrections and interlineations as a foot note. I shall be obliged if you could kindly quote some decided cases.

Though this query seems an academic as you have not told your concern with its contents, however, keeping in view the role of a notary, I attend it.

Notary public authenticates the document which is turn is treated as true document so he is duty bound to ensure the signature of its testator on every cutting/overwriting etc. before him prior to his authentication but he is not expected to count such corrections/writings and mention it on the document or in his record.
