Can consumer forum seize a documents from bank?

A customer lodged complaint to consumer forum against his banker for a transaction and consumer forum asked bank to submit the documents in original to the forum.

Can consumer forum as such right?

Give details of your query. Consumer forum is fit to pass necessary direction towards relief sought for for which the document need not be attached by it.

Yes consumer forum has rights to call for the documents as any other court.

Consumer forum does have right to direct banks or any party to file original documents concerning the dispute.

Banks are immunized only about BOOKS'OF ACCOUNTS due to existence of Banker's Book Evidence Act,where under certified extracts of those a/c books can be filed and the same would be admissible as evidence.

Bank has to submit documents if documents not exempted under Banker's Book Evidence Act.

1. Yes, Consumer Forum can direct the Bank to submit the documents,

2. It can also direct for forensic test, hand writing verification etc. to be confirmed about the authenticity of the documents.
