LLB with job

Guest (Querist) 16 August 2014 This query is : Resolved
Hi,
I am a Chartered Accountant and work in a firm as an employee. I wish to pursue a 3 year LLB from either Delhi university, Punjab university or Pune. I wanted to know whether it is permitted to work alongside pursuing the course?
I do not wish to go for part time course, but want to do a full time course, that too for 2 years as I may not practice as an advocate. So can you please advice me on the course of action. Job and LLB?

Thanks.

1. Dear Mr. Jay, please note that there are no part-time LL.B. Courses at all. You have to pursue a full time / regular 3 year course only. (It is a different matter that the classes may be held either in the morning hours, or in the day time, or in the evening timings.).

2. You say that you are working in a private firm. But you have not indicated in which City/Town that you presently working. As there are no distance education for LL.B. available throughout the country, unless you are located in the city where you want to pursue the course, it will not be possible for you to pursue the course at Pune or Punjab University while working at Delhi.

3. So long as your firm permits to attend the classes, and fulfil the minimum attendance requirements, your employment should not be a hindrance for pursuing the LL.B. Course. Even if you are employed in Government, you can pursue the course after obtaining necessary permission from your office, provided if the classes are being conducted outside your office hours.

Hi Anirudh and Ajay,
Firstly thank you for such a prompt response.
I am currently working in Mumbai. But do not mind temporarily shifting to any of the three places specified during the course period.
And I believe that I have a good chance of getting emplotlyment in a CA firm in any of these three cities, especially inndelhi where I already got a job offer from. All I am concerned is that if I manage my time well, does the Bar council of India pose any restrictions of my employment?
Besides during the course, apart from the regular lectures and exams, are there any other thing in LLB that might be a hindrance in either of the two?

Thanks again.

If your time permits, you can do the LLB course.

As already indicated, it is between you, your employer and the University/college where you will be attending the regular LL.B. Course. Bar Council of India does not come in the picture at this stage. After passing LL.B., if you want, you can enrol there should be no difficulty.
