First contact the office of Registrar Birth & Death of the area wherein your date of birth is recorded and ask the procedure to get the mistake rectified. If the tell some procedure, complete the formality and get the rectification done.

If it does not work, follow the procedure suggested by expert raj kumar makkad ji. It would be a bit costly and time consuming due to overburdened courts, but better avenue left.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 19 December 2013
If the name has been registered along with the date of birth in the register of the concerned authority, it cannot be changed or altered unless by a court order, hence it is better to file a declaration suit to declare the spelling of your name is as per the certificate and not a different one which was erroneously registered, as rightly advised by experts above.

Experts Shri Rajkumar Makkad and Shri T.Kalaiselvan touched both the required points. No more to add.
