Associate member

1. I am residing in Mumbai. In our society, total 20 members are there. At present 5 Associated Members are there, out of which one member is committee member. five more members have given application for associate member. Is there any restriction as per bye-laws or Act that society can not approve number of associate member?

2. One member is having three name jointly. Can all member can attend AGM of the society?

no such restriction .


first name member shall attend AGM . if he is unable to attend then associate member can attend if authorised

It is better to go through the bye-laws of that particular society. If there is any restriction clause of associated members then the same shall prevail otherwise in general law the same do not come within the ambit of restriction.

So far as taking part in the meeting of one member having 3 joint names is concerned, the same can be only one and has got only a one voting right.

Rightly advised by experts, I concur, it is mentioned in the Bye-laws of your society.
A G M can be attended by all the members.

In case of joint membership, the member whose name appears FIRST in share certificate, shall have voting right.
