i have a shop owned by me which is on pagri system.....the landlord has raised the rent by 5% retrospectively for every year for the last 5 years. Is he legally allowed to do so?Please advice

Pay the increase. His outgoing must have gone up; U do business, using hid shop he also carry on business to provide u shop. both r earning due to each other .

Yes he is having all such right to increase the rent.

The law does not permit retrospective increase of rent in absence of any agreement in that regard.
Do file case before the rent court for fixation of fair rent.

In the given facts, your landlord is not justified to enhance the rent with retrospective effect. It can be prospectively. You challenge his arbitrary decision.
