Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 05 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

Can a citizen has the right to ask for a copy of the Judgment, decree or Order copy under RTI act.

If so to whom should it be addressed to?
K.S.Srinivas (Expert) 05 August 2011
Yes. A citizen of India can ask for a copy of the judgement, decree or order copy under RTI Act. Address the Public Information Officer of the Public Authority concerned.

Better you can file a copy application. If you are not a party in case mean can file a third party copy application.
Advocate Rajkumarlaxman (Expert) 06 August 2011
I too agree with experts. its easy to get copy by copy applictaion then why RTI and if any conmtroversy arises then he can unedr RTI file the same.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 06 August 2011
First and foremost, it is not clear that when he says Court which court? Whether it is District / subordinate courts, or High Court or Supreme Court.

I am afraid, one cannot get a copy of any judgment from court through RTI.
Even certified copy of any judgment will be given on application only to the parties to the case and not to anybody else.

The judgments of the High Courts and Supreme Court are now a days available on the internet itself.

Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 06 August 2011
Certified copies of Judgments can not be granted under RTI act.

You have to file copy application as per the court procedure.

If a third party want to get a certified copy he has to file an application, if it is allowed only he can get the certified copy.

Directly a third party cannot get a certified copy.
