i own a premises,after 8 months, i write a complain to electric department for checking the meters,they visited my premises and found that one of my four meter is defected,and also said in their reports that the body seal of the meter is ok,they advice their departments to change the meter and ammendments,but they failed to do so,after 14 months of their first visit, their another department came to my premises and raid the one meter of mine which is already in their notice that this is defected meter,they make temper meter case on me, that u temper the meter,and make a claim of 4,70000+54000 claim of compound amount, they make payment from me Rs 2,62000 by force teling me if u donot pay such a amount now with few hour we will drag u in police station,they also said pay such a amount today and u can meet our senior tommorow he listen to u and decided are innocent or not but pay first. if any one has good advice for case please reply me

do you have the documents pertaining to first visit and the report that the meter is defective?
if yes, the options left to you are

1) you can file criminal case agasint them
2) can compalain to their superiors
3) appr0ach the consumer forum
4) can file injunction suit against them
before taking any steps give a legal notice to them stating the facts

You have bonafidely noticed to the department about your meter's defect it is the duty of electricity department to replace the meter if the meter is not tempered there is no offence under Indian Electrity Act inspiute of knowledge of defect the department has not cared the concern SDO is liable for the same the meter reading showing no reading,meter not running,,burnt etc is liablity of deptt. you should file consumer case immediately there is a provision the consumer court can stay the recovery of ammount till decision of the case contact any lawyer of your city who is expert in consumer cases.

Dear Mr.Davindar,

Could you kindly enlighten as to how in one premises 4 meters have been installed and the name of the Electricity Company/State in which the incident happened. Further, why you also have kept silent for over 14 months after the first inspection when the meter found defective and whether you were using the meter in question or not.
