Dear Sir,
My father is the owner of a flat in Mumbai in a co operative society. He is now residing in Trivandrum and is 88 years old.
Redevelopement of the society is underway and new flats have been alloted. My father cannot come to Mumbai for taking possession of the redeveloped flat and hand over the Old flat for demolition.
As his nominee and son please advise what documents I will need to take possession of the redeveloped flat in my fathers name.
I am holding a Power of Attorney made out by him in Trivandrum.
Best Regards

Being the POA holder and the nominee of your father you can enter into the agreement with the Society for redevelopment agreement and execute such other document as the Society needs to sign from time to time.

yes, power of attorney will serve the purpose. you can act on behalf your father through said POA.

You have to keep in with you power of attorney and documents related to the flat.If the new flat wanted to register in your name then Power of attorney is not enough.

Redevlopment of Society's building in Mumbai requires execution of several documents such as consent letter, Agreemnet for altrnative accomdation etc. and receipt of money payable under the Redevelopment agreement by way of corpus or hardship money, rents for the alternative accomodation etc. Pl ebnsure that the POA obtained by you covers all these aspects and confers requisite peowers to you.
