Ancestral property devolves on legal heirs. Therefore the sale effected.by your mother is illegal. Yet, befor initiating any action try for.a compromose as it may create strained relationship in family.

Hello,
As per my opinion, your mother is the owner of the property which she receives from her father. So your mother is competent to sell the property as per her wish and you cannot challenge this before any court.

The facts posted do not suggest the property to be ancestral.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 31 December 2020
How the property is ancestral?
How it came to your mother?
Who firstly purchased it and whether it remained undivided from last 4 generations?

Property inherited up to four generations of male lineage and should have remained undivided throughout this period is ancestral property.
