Death certificate

Hi My mom passed away last year in Navi Mumbai. I have doctor certificate but what about any municipal or authority certificate ? From whom to get it. No one has clear idea. Is it required any legal procedure ?

If it is more than one year then you will have to file criminal miscelleous case in the criminal court. After getting the order from the court you can file an application enter the date of death maintained by birth and death registrar.

If she expired in hospital, the information must have been sent by the hospital to Municipality office. You can apply to take certificate on the basis of that entry.

If she expired at residence, you can apply to municipality. Download form from following link:

I see it is simple problem , not that too complex as it seems

Reason

1) Maharashtra Police act allows funeral only at registered place

2) Funeral may have taken place in Navi Mumbai some where I suppose

3) It comes under Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation etc

4) Go to same place where funeral took place , try to remember date of death , date of funeral and try to take Dr. certificate

5) When you go there out Funeral place there must be office , who give permission to do funeral after looking at dr. certificate and making relevant entry

6) Ask him the entry no. , even funeral report copy . That dead body funeral done

7) Once you get Funeral report copy go to Municipal Office (Ask that person at funeral place only he will tell properly)

8) Show Funeral report you will get death certificate . Only that month register you have to check

Reason I told this procedure because standard procedure is as follows in Maharashtra

1) When Death body comes municipal officer at funeral place ,see death body
2) He check Dr. death certificate
3) Dr. sends one copy that he issued death certificate to Municipal Corporation
4) Person at funeral place make relevant entry in register
5) Priest do all thing
6) If it is wooden /Electric funeral that entry in register is also there
7) Funeral place Funeral report is made and weekly send to municipal office
8) Municipal Office when Funeral report comes without any procedure automatically register Death may be they may be even checking dr. report some time
9) Technically Death is registered. This procedure takes 15-20 days
10) After 1 month when person go and tell the name or show funeral report or dr. certificate checking database they find name
11) And Issue Death certificate .
12) You can take as many as death certificate you want . Just check proper spelling name etc. immediately.

In my opinion since I have read rules of birth and death in Maharashtra long back I can surely tell if you have done funeral at proper legal place death certificate is already ready only thing you need to search record and get it.

If death has taken place in hospital, the death report shall be forwarded by hospital authorities to the municipality as a routine hence your mother's death would have been already registered. You may produce the cremation certificate and apply for death certificate from Municipality.

Thank you all. I contacted NMMC but they are saying it falls within purview of Grampanchayat and when I contacted Grampanchayat they told it is now transferred to NMMC.

Routine things ,That is why people get irritate with Govt. office .

Go to funeral place and ask that person tell me what he says , which office he has send funeral report

Out of govt. office you get 10 Rs. court fee stamp RTI form , Fill it and ask

Please give information whether this name person (xxxxxxxxx) Age xxxxx Gender : Female death certificate is in your data base. date of death YYYYY, death of funeral YYYYYY, Dr. Certificate zerox and funeral certificate zerox also put , so they can easily find data


Please give information whether ABC funeral place comes within your jurisdiction or not .

I never knew any details of my grand mother death which took place before my birth.

RTI form I gave and asked them whether "ZZZZZZZZZZ" name is registered in year 1983. Please give registration no.

They had to search whole data manually and give registration no.

I told them month and offered I will seat and check register and tell they were not allowing me to take search , I gave form , reply came to my house .

That is why RTI is considered biggest nuisance of the decade to Govt. office
