Appointing a law firm in a different geographic location viable?

My parents own multiple ancestral properties in Maharashtra. However, all of them are in some or the other dispute.

Now, we stay in Gujarat since 30 years. Is it practical to appoint a law firm, in Gujarat, which handles all our legal matters in Maharashtra, or should we appoint a local law firm in Maharashtra? Which would be more viable?

Please help me understand the benefits and drawbacks of both.

better appoint local lawyer in Maharashtra .Gujrat law firm will in turn brief lawyers in maharashtra . double expense for you
