I am a lawyer. I am running my office at Kerala State Housing Board Building. whether I am liable to pay service tax.

no dear, please go through the relevant provisions of Finance Act,1994. Service tax is a Central legislation and service taxisto be paid only on the services defined uunder theAct ibid. if you are providing services like consultant etc, then it is payable when the taxable value of the services provided are above ten lakh rs. then the service tax on immovable property is payable only if you rent it out. not when you are yourselves living in it. kindly update yourself. if still any problem. contact me at tkg1968@rediffmail.com
