Govt job in state

(Querist) 30 January 2013 This query is : Resolved
i had applied for govt junior college lecturer in karnataka. while applying i had claimed for OBC reservation but got selected in General Merit without claiming any reservation. am i compelled to produce validity certificate? if not will i loose my job? please clarity
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 31 January 2013
Since you did not join in OBC quota the caste certificate has no relevance. You cannot be compelled per-se.

But if you are not able to produce then it can be inferred that you attempted a wrongful claim (although got selected without such claim)
M V Gupta (Expert) 31 January 2013
You should produce the caste certificate as u had claimed to be OBC. This certificate when produced at the time of joining the service may be of use at a later date in circumstances when u may like to claim benefits of OBC candidates in matters of promotion etc.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 31 January 2013
OBC benefit is not available for promotion. You cannot be denied appointment as long as you are in general merit and the rules state that your appointment in such case will not be treated as OBC quota. Demand of department is not justified.
