legal heir certificate

(Querist) 17 July 2009 This query is : Resolved
A request for legal heir certificate was given to trichy tasildar office and the certificate given by them mentions that it was given to claim insurance money from LIC of india.

Is it right to mention the reason for issuing the certificate or is it enough if the tasildar just issues the certificate without mentioning the reason for using it for all legal purposes

Please clarify

Ms Vijayan, yes it is right to mention the reason and Tehsildar has no need to mention the reasons. Legal heir certificate is a simple certificate in which names of the deceased's heir are mentioned.I think to claim insurance money you need succession certificate not a legal heir certificate.

I agree with Shri Sarin Ji. However it is up to the authorities of LIC as to from which certificate they are they are satisfied .

Legal heir certificate is a proof to say that you are the legal heir of so and so person. There is no need to mention the specific reason for which you are applying. It can be used for all purposes.

jayashree ji says clearly that legal heir certificate is a proof to say that you are the legal heir.
& to claim insurance money you need succession certificate from civil court to file legal heir certificate.

I agree with Mr. Siva, since the government has given a specific column, this has necessiated the official concerned to mentioned the reason.
