Is enquiry on availabiliy of particular item/deposit valid under rti

In a matter relating to a Treasury a particular Safe Custody Article was transferred from the Treasury to a Government Department.

Here the problem is that I the applicant doesn't know the exact date of transfer of that particular safe custody article to the particular Govt. Department, But I certainly know that it is the Govt. Department I am planning to apply under RTI Act.

Now my query is that :
Can I make a RTI application to the Government Department seeking the status / information on availability or non- availability of that particular Safe Custody Article.

Is this query valid under RTI ?

In the absense of details I can only suggest to apply under RTI and wait for the response of the said Govt. department.

In the RTI application, you need not mention the date of transfer, just inquire about the transfer of that particular item.
