It is OK if the activities of the assistants/ clerks (BUT not agents for commission) of lawyers are restricted up to dealings with clients, fixing the appointment, etc., along with other routine assistance in their day-to-day business, but not for approaching the non-client offenders or their relatives to canvass with the intention to arrange clints for their masters.

AN AGENT IN LEGAL PROFESSION IS CALLED TOUT AND THE SAME IS PROHIBITED.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 30 November 2011
We used to call them as Advocate Clerks. They will assist the advocates for doing clerical works to be done in the registry of the court.

He will receive charges for every case.

Advocates should not have any agents in his profession; only assistants laymen are engaged. It is a fact t6hat some of the advocates are keeping agents for canvassing cases also, which is prohibited.
