engage a lawyer file criminal complaint under section 503, 506 of IPC for criminal intimidation against the said abuser

If the police is sitting idle then file complaint u/s 200 crpc as a private complainant.
Or you may file petition u/s 156(3) crpc for necessary direction upon the Police to cause investigation.

The option & the course of action counselled by Expert Devajyoti barman is most appropiate.

Police won't take any action, as it is a non-cognizable crime. File a private complaint as suggested by experts.

If section 341 IPC is added alongwith 504 & 506 IPC then it becomes cognizable and Police can investigate u/o of Magistrate passed in 156(3) application.
