Can a muslim man remarry while still in the first marriage?
My first wife and i don't share anything in common. We are always fighting and can't see eye to eye.she is very arrogant abt her job and not all ready to adjust. she has made my life as well as my parents life hell.have been married for the last 8 months. She has stayed with me for a week only after marriage. now she is in her parents home. she is a state govt. employee. i told her to take divorce, but she is not ready for this. plz tell what options i have. Can i remarry widout leaving my first wife, as she is not willing to divorce me. we had a muslim arrange marriage.
what are the pros and cons of remarring? Please advice as my life has become hell. can't concentrate on my career as well.

as a muslim you can have a second wife provided you are in position to support her do disclose the fact to your first wife .
If a husband takes a second wife, he has to treat his wives equally as far as possible. If he does not treat them equally then he is exposing himself to a stern warning, for it was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever has two wives and inclines more towards one of them than the other, will come on the Day of Resurrection with half of his body leaning.” (narrated by al-Nisaa’i, ‘Ushrat al-Nisaa’, 3881; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Nasaa’i, no. 3682).

As per Muslim law prevalent in India, a Muslim can re-marry during the pendancy of his matrimonial disputes with his first wife. First wife shall only be entitled for maintenance allowance but the same is not liable to be paid as your wife is a Govt. Servant earning a huge income necessary for her maintenance.

I agree with Mr.Prabhaker Singh.A muslim man can maintain 4 wives at the same time.
