Action that can be taken if the P.I.O fails to reply under R.T.I

(Querist) 03 May 2011 This query is : Resolved
I would like to know the time frame given to the P.I.O for furnishing information/details for queries posted under R.T.I.
What if the concerned P.I.O does not bother to reply within the time frame set by the court.
Also what actions can be taken against such departments/P.I.O's for their negligent attitude.
How the R.T.I. helps general public?

you will have to file appeal within 30 days from the reply from the concerned office.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 03 May 2011
You have to appeal to the Appellate PIO in 30 days. If that also fails, thereafter to the Commission in 30 days.

The commission is having power to order for penalty on the PIO. That will be black mark in his service.
