My dad died recently.we wish to sell land to clear off huge debts.my grandma who is on bed cannot come to register office.she can very well sign a document.she is not interested in property .we don't know wen sale will finalise.she might not be in a position to sign in future.can she relinquish her right without coming to register office.tel me something which can be done without her presence in register office n valid as per law.

yes she can relinquish her rights. If you want to get it register, sub register will come to your house to obtain the signature but for that you will have to special fees thatz also govt., fees.

Yes. The Registering Officer may come to your place and register a document. Your grandmother need no visit the office of Registering Officer. The provision is contained in section 31 of the Registration Act, 1908.

"31. Registration or acceptance for deposit at private residence: In ordinary cases the registration or deposit of documents under this Act shall be made only at the office of the officer authorised to accept the same for registration or deposit:

PROVIDED that such officer may on special cause being shown attend at the residence of any person desiring to present a document for registration or to deposit a will, and accept for registration or deposit such document or will."

1-you can ask sub-registrar to visit your home.
2-your grandma can appoint a power of attorney to sell the property.
