Advocate on record examination

(Querist) 04 March 2011 This query is : Resolved
Hello sir,
I have complete one year training under an advocate on record but I don't have practice of 4 years.Whether I am eligible for advocate on record examination.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 04 March 2011
You should have minimum 4 years experience as 'Advocate' after enrolment with the Bar Council. Apart from this, you should also 1 year training under an Advocate on Record. Thus, only after 5th year of experience as 'Advocate' you would be eligible to sit for the AOR Examination.

What's Advocate on Record?
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 06 March 2011
Dear Mr. Thakkar, it is an examination conducted by Supreme Court of India. Any case (other than those being filed by person in person) before the SC can be filed only through the AOR. In fact the cases will be listed only in the name of the AOR. AOR in turn can engage any other Advocate or Senior Advocate to argue the matter. But AOR is the key.
