Issue of SC caste certificate

(Querist) 31 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
I possess a valid SC certificate signed from the Tahsildar of Tiruchengodu Taluk, Salem District,TN dated in the year 93.

Now,as i am going to take up my new assignment in SBI as PO, they want me to produce a certificate which has been issued within 1 year as on 1st Nov, 2010..means i need to show a certificate issued after 1st Nov ,2009.

my query is- can i take this certificate and approach the Tahsildar of Chennai area( m currently residing in chennai) and request him to avail me a new certificate on the basis of the previous one....though i don't entirely belong to this taluk but for the fact that i have been staying here for the past 1 year.

Is there a provision that a different Tahsildar can issue a new certificate like this?

if not, please guide me what should i do in this regard...

i can't go back to my hometown and get this thing done as i don't have time in my hand!

You are required to visit your native place to get the Caste Certificate re-issued or renewed. In the meantime, you can apprise the matter to SBI and seek extension their guidance in this regard. Welcome to the Banker's community. All the Best.

Respected Parthasarathi sir,

Look Mr. Raju. Salem is not in United States of America. Being your hometown, you need not do the job yourself. Since there are 15 days left You can very well entrust the job to your relatives or parents through your application. You can submit your application to Tashildar alongwith the SBI orders seeking their expeditious action and if possible your District Collector can also intervene into the matter. It is never an impossible proposition. Your present Caste Certificate (issued more than 17 years) has no value now.
Kamalakkannan Raju (Querist) 31 October 2010
all right sir...i ll do the same!
Kamalakkannan Raju (Querist) 31 October 2010
sir,

Is it mandatory that i in person need to go for availing this new certificate??
Parthasarathi Loganathan (Expert) 31 October 2010
Application is routed through your local VAO. Revenue Inspector will then personally enquire before the file is put to Tashildar and hence physical presence is required for any stipulated date. How you failed to note these conditions stipulated by SBI at the application stage itself before you appeared for the written test. The same must have been surely intimated to you even at the time of interview. Anyhow, better late than never. Hope your query stands resolved now.

Unless you appear in person, the authorities will not consider your application at all. It is not an easy task. The authorities will indulge in a roving enquiry all over again in the matter and then only grant you the certificate,if they are convinced.

@ all 'Experts'

Firstly, thank you all for replying to my query...

I have booked the ticket for my hometown...but before leaving, i ud like to get some information cleared!

1> Now, in order to avail the new certificate on the basis of old one, would the concerned officer would dig out my family background- i mean...my dad s a Bank Manager in BOI and Mom s also working. So, in that case would they deny giving me certificate stating the reason that my family is in a well settled position nw,so u don't seem to fall under backward class community, and you can't avail the certificate anymore!

2> Should i first approach my village VAO or directly the Tiruchengodu Tahsildar for this???

Dear Kamalakkannan,
Originally you said that you have a SC certificate; now you say that whether the authorities would deny you the Backward Class Community certificate since your father and mother are in well settled position.
While for SC, there will be no problem; as for Backward Class Community Certificate, definitely the Authorities would look into your background, family position and accordingly decide whether you fall under Creamy Layer or not.
Kamalakkannan Raju (Querist) 01 November 2010
@Ramachandran sir,

sorry...i the sentence "u don't seem to fall under backward class community......."...i meant SC community only....i forgot that both SC and BC community have altogether different meaning!!!

Thank you sir for your reply, so,i think i should nt be having any hassles in availing the new certificate!

All the Best. Since I feel that your selection is based on Reservation Quota, Caste Certificate is only of the mandatory documents to be furnished to the bank. However, income criteria irrespective of caste has no relevance once selection is made based on the statutory norms. Income comes into play only when his parents are considered as dependents to gain some privileges like LFC, Medical Reimbursement, etc only after he becomes an employee first.

Rush up and hasten the matter. All the Best.

You can directly approach Tahsildar.
Normally, for SC, there is no need for renewal.
In case of BC only, renewal/ frsh certifcate is needed.
But in ur case, the certificate is dated some 17 yrs back, so to confirm, the bank officials might have asked you.
In this situation, it is ur duty to clarify the genuinity of the certificate.
So directly approach the Tahsildar.
If u have any hestiation to meet him, u may go thru VAO.
But the right way is to meet Tahsildar directly

I would like to add that, Kamalakkannan, Raju , you are naturally hectic for this but you have to obtain fresh SC certificate. Previously, power of issuance certificate of SC was given to Tehsildar, now it has given to his superior officer of the rank of Deputy Collector after recommendation given by Tehsildar of your Taluk. Hence you please confirm the same first of all and since your native is in Salem Dist. you obtain first your domicile certificate from your VAO, which they usually issues to bonafied residents. Then alongwith your domicile certificate , you can obtain School leaving certificate of your father and your own School leaving certificate on which caste is mentioned and applied it on a proper format applications which are available in the Collectorate Office or Revenue Dept of your Tehsil. You will surely get your SC Certificate.
Best of Luck for your future.
