what is the section of to kill national bird peacock and under which law ?

Peacock is a Schedule-I species under the Wildlife Protection Act. Section 9 of the Act prohibits hunting of such species. Section 51 of the Act prescribes a punishment of imprisonment not less than 1 year, extendable upto 6 years and fine of not less than Rs. 5000. For second and subsequent offences, the imprisonment shall not be less than 2 years and fine not less than Rs. 10000.
