My collegue was transferred to mozembique 6 months back and now he died there of an accident. He was insured under the group insurance policy of company with Oriental insurance. His body was handed over to us from mozembique after all paper formality , but they did'nt do the postmortem of his body .as there is no such rule. Now this insurance company is not making payment and is asking for PM report.

Get a certificate from the concerned authorities at the place of death that as per their law, there is no PM for such cases.
submit this report along with your claim by regd post and wait for their response.
Usually, insurance companies ask for PM report for accicdent cases, just to make sure that it is not an act of suicide and further for suicide many companies give double the sum assured. so before settling the claim they have to ensure that it is a genuine claim.
Insurance companies are trustees of policy holders (Based on LIC experience) money and as such they have to make sure that claims are made for genuine cases.
as such sometime people have to face such problems as enumerated by you.

If there is no rule for autopsy collect letter from the authorities for the same.submit that document before the insurance office. If they reject approach Court of Law.
