Cutting down of tree

Dear All, please advice how to approach
my neighbour is threatening to cut down my tree. The tree is near the edge and my neighbours property is slightly on lower ground..he is complaining the tree is old and might fall..the roots are intact and tree is still strong..I don't want to cut the tree..how do I stop this..if he complains in panchayath what can I do stop this

You can cut some branches which are slightly on lower ground to your neighbors' property. It is simply an amicable settlement. First, you talk to him in a smooth way, then he may not complain. If complain, consult a local lawyer.

You can have a poison tree in your land provided it does not escape from your land to injure your neighbors, and if it escape you will be held liable for it. The tree is big enough and it may pose a threat to life too and not a mere injury. Your neighbor has a right to writ of injunction against you, better make up your mind.

Seek permission from area Forest Conservator for cutting the tree, if trimming do not work out.
