sir/madam..
I am a doctor by profession..and my home town is bhiwandi...Thane...here i gave birth to my child too...i did not change my name afer marraige..my passport also mentions my full name with my fathers name...and spouse name has been added. now wen i apply for birth certificate ..the muncipal council...they are not ready to write my maiden name in the birth certificate of my child. they say always husb name shud come after ur name post marraige. All the legal document...my aadhar ..my pan..my passport all have my maiden name...can u pls suggest me the document or laws to put forward to the muncipal council..to justify my side and coax them to make a birth certificate of my child...with my maiden name as mothers name

I think it is not compulsory that your name is must with your husband name after marriage. however apply to the Municipal authorities with an affidavit to be attested by a Notary that your name with maiden name and after marriage you have keep your name with maiden name due to studied and job.

The is name Naming Act, i.e. the Law regulating or stipulating how a person ought to be named, in our country. Everyone is free to choose his or her name; for new born child, it is the choice of the parents or the elders. The officialdom has no jurisdiction over the matter. As an obvious corollary it is not necessary that a woman should change her name after marriage or that her husband's name should be added to her name.
