Hi ,

I have been called to a Mumbai police station for an inquiry through a letter. The FIR is against a company and its directors in which i was also an employee earlier. I am single woman staying in Delhi without my family around. I am ready to participate in their inquiry.
However i want to know my rights?
Do i have to go to Mumbai?
Who is going to bear my To & Fro tickets charges?
Who is going to be responsible for my safety for travelling alone to Mumbai?

send ur written reply to said letter by speed post to concerned mumbai PS. no need to go personally as ur ex-employee of said co.

You can inform the police station or authorities concerned that you would be obliged to come to mumbai for their inquiry if they meet your travel expenses delhi-mumbai- delhi besides lodging expenses if the inquiry is more than a day...the government of every state has dedicated funds to meet such contingencies ...if they cannot the police station can depute their own IO to delhi to meet you and record in case they want to personally see you whether you are genuine complainant.

Inform the police regarding all facts and your present status of single woman staying at Delhi and worried regarding your safety in travelling.

Thank you all for the expert advice , definitely I will send the letter to them . I just want to know that other then safety issue , is it right that police is calling us for investigation at their office , I think they should send their team at our place for investigation. Please correct me If I am wrong . In any case I am trying to help police in their investigation

no, it is not right for police to call women from other state to come to PS in another state and instead mumbai police person can come at delhi to ask questions frrom you at ur place in delhi during day timing only.
