Discharge of an advocate

(Querist) 08 July 2009 This query is : Resolved
I have changed my counsel,

My former advocate wants me to sign on a 'NO DUES' before he returns my case files.
He says a draft lies with every advocate and is present with the Bar council of India.
Can any of my learned friends give me a copy ofthe draft so that I may sign without fear of any manipulation by him?

I have asked him to email me the draft but he refuses to do so.

Worried,

Kalyani

its a strange thing which has come to my knowledge.

i could not even find it on the official website of bar council of india.

www.barcouncilofindia.org

the practice i ve seen is that the lawyers put theri signatures on the Vkalatnama (power of attorney) writing NO OBJECTION and would further write NO DUES are pending.

i would request some Delhi Lawyer here on the site to help her.

some one from Delhi pls leave ur no. and help her out.

Dear Kalyani,
There is no such draft and also I have never heard about this before.
More over if your former advocate wants a NO DUES memo for returning the file, You give it in your own handwriting, so that manipulations can't take place.
