Aman Kachroo case: Guilty given 4 years in jail; defence to appeal against verdict
Naresh Sharma, TNN Nov 11, 2010, 03.40pm IST

(Four medical students were sentenced to 4 years in jail after being held guilty for ragging to death their junior Aman Kachroo last year.)

DHARAMSALA: A sessions court on Thursday handed out four years of rigorous imprisonment to four medical students accused of ragging their junior Aman Kachroo to death in Himachal Pradesh last year.

In a setback to the prosecution, the Dharamsala Additional District and Sessions Judge Purinder Vaidya converted the murder charges framed under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the four accused medical students, Ajay Verma, Naveen Verma, Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma to culpable homicide in Aman ragging-to-death case not tantamount to murder under section 304 (II) here on Thursday amidst packed courtroom.

The judgment in the High Court is reserved and the same is yet to be pronounced.
