Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 25 August 2021 This query is : Resolved
Hello , I have a query pertaining to sanad. A friend had received sanad in 2014. As she was unemployed for a some months she took a job in a private company in sales nothing related to legal. Recently she resigned and is currently unemployed. How can she pursue a career in law.

As per Rules issued in the year 2015, a person who possessed a law degree, shall not engage in any job including a private job is eligible to apply for practice as an Advocate in any State Bar Council.

If your friend is eligible to be enrolled as an advocate under section 24 & 24 A of the Advocates Act, 1961 she may apply.
However, what is your interest / problem ?

Sir , the problem is that she had the llb degree and sanad but never practiced as a lawyer. She was employed in a food manufacturing company for 5 years.
Current status she is not employed in any private job.
1 .Can she still be an advocate ?
2 . Can she inform the bar council now of her past job ?

Yes she can apply to the State Bar Council for enrollment in the Bar.

She can practice as lawyer after being enrolled in local Bar Council.

If she was already enrolled as an advocate 5 years ago, then she should should have got her practice suspended immediately when she took up other profession, instead if she had continued with her new profession other than the practice of law during these 5 years and without suspending her practice by giving a letter to the respective bar council then she would be deemed to have commissioned an offence as per advocates act.
No doubt she has not practiced law in these 5 years, hence she con continue to practice as a lawyer from now on, but she should not be indulged in any other profession once she is into this profession.
