Second marriage

My friend, a Hindu was married in 2001 and he is a father of a son with that marrige. His wife not living with him since 2002 and not married to any body .The son who is living with his mother is now 8 years old.

Last week my friend married with a girl without any notice or divorce to his first wife , His logic is the first marriage was not registered.

My question is.

1.As we all know very few marriage in our country has been registered, whether registration is compulsory?
2.What will happen if her first wife will know about the second marriage of his husband?
3. Whether any chance that nothing will happen to him?

Your friend can be booked for bigamy under IPC and if his second marriage is proved he has to undergo imprisonment, further legally his second marriage is void.

His Second marriage has been registered .It means prove of the second marriage is available. Please advise what will happen to the witnesses.

If the witness has knowledge of the person's previous marriage and that the second marriage is without a divorce, then he can be made a party by the complainant for intentionally giving witness falsely and with fraud and deceit in order to cheat.

Registration of marriage is now made compulsory.

She can complain for the commission of offence of bigamy

Marriage is regn., is mandatory.
Ist wife can file bigamy
When proof of second marriage is available so it is an offence.
First wife has initiate legal proceedings against her husband, otherwise nothing will happen.
Wittness can be made as party to criminal proceedings if he has knowledge of first marriage or not.
