Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 08 January 2010
The rank of colonel is not less than SP but he is not authorized to cross his limits and he can only command his battalion and not civil police. He is expected to follow law of land and procedure.
A V Vishal (Expert) 09 January 2010
In the list of precedence the rank of Colonel is equivalent to a Senior Superintendent of Police. However, a colonel's power is restricted to his area of command and cannot go beyond into civilian areas unless he is so empowered in emergencies.
adv. rajeev ( rajoo ) (Expert) 09 January 2010
He cannot act beyond his powers. His powers are restricted to his department only eventhough he is equal to superintendent of police.
Arvind Singh Chauhan (Expert) 09 January 2010
Agree with all above seniors.
Ajay Bansal (Expert) 09 January 2010
Agreed with A V Vishal.
