Appeal in higher courts

(Querist) 09 December 2009 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,
I have a property demarcation dispute with my neighbor. Through my lawyer, I have registered a case at the municipality civil court. In this regard, I would like to know, whether I can appeal to the higher courts, if the verdict goes against my favor?

Is it true that civil cases can only be appealed upto the max level of "District Civil Court" and not beyond that (i.e.) in the High Court & Supreme Court?

Also, is there a maximum time limit to receive a verdict in a civil case?

Please advice.

Thanks // Adi

you have filed case in the wrong court. You could have a suit for declaration and injunction in the civil court. You could have got appointed the court commissioner to measure the suit property.

Rajeev! The quarist has already described that he has filed his case in Municipality Civil court means before civil court and not any revenue authority.

Mr.! Why are you anticipating your defeat in the present case and not only in present case but also in all further appeals. This is very wrong to think such far far far away things at this stage. You should now confine to win your case on the basis of strong documentary as well as oral evidence and prepare fully for that rather dreaming in the day. Property suits are even heard upto Supreme court level. legality/illegality is to be seen in such matters.

Dear Raj Kumar,

Appreciate your comments and guidance.

Due to various unavoidable circumstances, i had to file a law suit. Since this is something which i have to live with for some years, the curiosity on our judiciary system initiated me to pose this question.

I remember reading a forum where it stated that petty cases and civil matters are not heard at the high court & supreme court level - let me dig for that article/link and will copy it here.
